 Testing a home for molds. 
ERMI is a misunderstood test and should not be used. The Environmental Relative Moldiness Index (ERMI) has become an increasingly popular method of testing for mold in homes. 

This test is often recommended by healthcare providers who do not have a background in Environmental Sciences and don’t understand the limitations of this testing method. The ERMI was initially designed for use on a single research project. 

The Environmental  Protection Agency (EPA) created and funded this research project. The EPA has explicitly been telling the public to stop using this test and that it is not accurate. 

However, among Environmental Scientists, the limitations of the ERMI test are well known, so true experts avoid this method. There isn’t just one thing that makes the ERMI test inaccurate—there are many.
