Sassan Rastegar
340 Madison Ave., Suite 4B
212-692-9090
Sassan believes that "50% of the success of a dental or medical procedure is dependent upon how you feel about it." From the friendly door staff downstairs at his luxurious Madison Avenue office to the massaging chairs and gracious, compassionate approach of Sally his hygienist,Sassan makes you feel as peaceful as humanly possible about having dental work. His work is flawless and prices fair. And no, I've not had my teeth professionally whitened. I use a good electric toothbrush-Sonicare and couple times a year I put on one of those Crest Whitening Strips.
Dermatologist Dr. Fredric Brandt
317 East 34th Street
212-889-7096
I cannot say enough nice things about Dr. Brandt. He is the most genius man in the skin care business as far as I'm concerned. No doubt he's the sweetest.
One of the most important tools I teach clients is how to use the dry sauna. Much more effective than the steam room, dry saunas detoxify the body, purify the skin and aid in weightloss-you burn an average of 200 calories every 30 minutes. Infrared is the most effective of all the dry saunas but is difficult to find in NYC.
Sunlighten changes the sauna game. I rec you either get your own affordable "Solo" or get a package of MB Fitness Sauna sessions.
Bonus: Sunlighten saunas are green so they use about as much electricity as a hairdryer.
When using the sauna, remember the following tips: Put an Electrolyte packet in your water and sip while in sauna Put vitamin E oil on the ends of your hair to keep from drying out
Do 20 minutes in, 5 minutes out. 2 or 3 rounds is plenty.

Medical Pedicure Clive Russeau 718-473-2348
nailsbyclive@aol.com If you're like me, you use those peds constantly. And after that half marathon or spin class, you want them to feel and look good in your strappy sandals or flip flops. Also, you can't afford to waste precious time getting pedicures that have to be re-done a week later. So Clive's your go to for the most thorough (including the leg/foot massage/reflexology -can you say ahhhh!), month-long lasting pedicures. Best part, he comes to you! http://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/04/fashion/thursdaystyles/04skin.html
Meditations: Simplest and most effective Two Bells www.coherence.com It doesn't get any easier than this, download it to your iPod, breathe in on the high bell, out on the low bell. Now just do it!
OR Transcendental Meditation (TM) My father took me to get my mantra when I was 7 years old and living in Houston, Texas. I got back to it as an undergrad in Boston and came back a 3rd time 20 years later via The David Lynch Foundation here in new York. Now Oprah Winfrey and her entire staff as well as Dr. Oz and his staff are all doing it twice a day too!
Organic Avenue has locations and delivers all over the New York City Area. I love this place and recommend the juices, foods, Alkalined Water and Packaged Goods to all our clients on a regular basis. .
They have a juice bar in the back. They have a menu, or you can ask them for your own recipe. Like many juice bars, they tend to complain when you ask for too much spinach or kale because it takes so much to make a drink. Now I buy my own ingredients and bring them to the bar. They charge about $2 for a service fee and make whatever juice I want. I buy 1 apple, 1 lemon, 2 bundles of spinach, and 1 bundle of kale. It makes a 32 ounce bottle of juice (usually there’s a little left over that they pour into a 16 ounce bottle).
SB is an expert at making her subjects comfortable and bringing out their inner as well as their outer beauty. She has a knack for catching her subjects in candid moments that show their essence even more than the posed shots. Fun and easy to work with.

After spending a month doing Iyengar Yoga training in Santiago I headed to this surf town on the coast where I met, among many other cool, laid back people, a nice group of Brazilian surfers. Pichelemu is where they held the National surf competition and is not a great place to learn how to surf (see hotel in New Zealand) And there aren't a lot of sights in this town. But if you're in Chile and you want to chill, head to Pichelemu, find some surfers, buy some great fresh fish from the local fishermen and have a bar-be-que with your new buddies.
This chilled out little town, which isthe starting point for most of the treks in the Annapurnaarea, is a 5 hour bumpy drive from Kathmandu. It is considered by many to be the most beautiful place in the whole wide world and well worth the trip if you're already in Nepal. It has a Buddhist mysticism that is both relaxing and reinvigorating. Not much to do but hang out and enjoy the view of the mountains.
Muriwai Beach is approx. 45 minute from Auckland central. From the cliffsoverlooking Maori Bay and the Gannet Colony north to Kaipara Head, this is one of the best places to learn how to surf because of its long, clean breaks.
This hotel has some of the best views in all of Barcelona and even has a pool on the roof! That, the views, the luxurious beds and the amenities sold me the minute I walked in the door. A must visit, and must stay.
The name speaks for itself as the perfect mixture of the "hipness" of the Hamptons with the laid back "chic" characteristics of a surf town.Guests of the hotel and drop in guests of the restaurant and bar can get dressed up or come in off the beach after a day of surfing with wet hair and flip flops. My favorite day to go is Sundays, at sunset, for Reggae.
Get em' at my fave runner's store NY Running Company. They have the best running gear selection as well as smart and friendly salespeople.

Fiore has excellent fashion sense, is honest (willing to tell me when I really don't need all three pair of the shoes I'm considering at any given moment) and patient. Isn't that what we women want in all our men?...Well maybe not the part about telling us we don't need all three pair of shoes we're considering:)

It's tread looks like a tank tire but feels like your jogging (I can actually jog on this treadmill because it's so shock absorbent) on the bridle path around the reservoir in Central Park. Better on the joints. This is far and away the best treadmill on the market. None of the others even come close. Equinox has a few if you want to try it out. But watch out, it's pricey.
